Mr Gregory Taylor

Mr Taylor is a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgery in Swansea and an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at Swansea University. He is and experienced general, colorectal and laparoscopic surgeon, with expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer and diverticular disease, complex abdominal wall hernias, haemorrhoids and other anorectal conditions. Mr Taylor is the Clinical Lead for Colorectal Surgery at Swansea Bay University Health Board. After graduating from Leeds Medical School in 2000, Mr Taylor trained in general surgery and colorectal surgery in Yorkshire and London. Alongside surgical training, he pursued an interest in clinical research and novel surgical technologies as an NIHR Clinical Lecturer at the University of Leeds, and completed a PhD in Mechanical Engineering in 2011. He has been involved in several clinical trials as research fellow and is currently Chief Investigator on two clinical trials funded by Health and Care Research Wales. Mr Taylor gained Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2016 and came to Swansea to undertake senior clinical fellowships in laparoscopic surgery and advanced pelvic malignancy, before taking up his current post as Consultant General and Colorectal Surgery in 2017. He has specialist interests in minimally invasive surgery, early rectal cancer, hernia surgery and complex abdominal wall reconstruction. In his spare time Mr Taylor enjoys travelling with his family, and has the misfortune of supporting Bolton Wanderers Football Club.
