Mr Gregory Edmund Jones

Greg is a specialist upper gastrointestinal and bariatric surgeon with extensive experience in laparoscopic and robotic minimally invasive surgery. He was appointed at the Royal Berkshire Foundation NHS Trust (RBH) in 2015 and has a private practice in Reading at the Ramsay Berkshire Independent Hospital, Spire Dunedin, and Circle hospitals. Greg graduated from Imperial College in London and completed his surgical training at Guts and St Thomas' Hospital, London and at Oxford University Hospitals. Following this, he did a Bariatric and Upper GI fellowship in Melbourne, Australia. He is Clinical Lead for General Surgery and one of the lead UGI & Bariatric surgeons. He helped to develop the unit into a level 1 Bariatric centre. In 2017, he set up the Robotic Surgery programme and in 2023 has introduced endoscopic surgery (ESG) for weight loss. Greg regularly performs primary surgery and complex revision surgery, both laparoscopically and using the ‘Da Vinci’ Xi Robotic platform. His other interests are all forms of hernia surgery (keyhole, complex reconstruction), minimally invasive benign upper GI surgery, including gallbladder and bile duct surgery, anti-reflux and hiatus hernia surgery, surgery for achalasia. He also provides diagnostic and therapeutic upper GI endoscopy (OGD).

Weight loss surgery: gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, gastric band, gastric balloon. Hernia surgery: laparoscopic and open surgery for groin hernias, laparoscopic and open surgery for abdominal wall surgery, including reconstruction. Laparoscopic gall bladder and bile duct surgery. Anti-reflux and hiatal hernia surgery: laparoscopic, primary and revisional surgery. General surgery: skin and subcutaneous lesions, upper GI endoscopy, laparoscopic surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, gallbladder and bile duct surgery, paediatric general surgery, minimally invasive surgery.
