Since retiring from the NHS, I continue in practice at the BMI Chiltern hospital where I see both private and NHS patients. I have an interest in lower limb joint replacement and arthroscopic surgery, and also in trauma reconstruction surgery. I then worked for BP at Sunbury Research Centre and subsequently at BP head office in Moorgate, London and in the North Sea on Forties Field oil production platforms. I received initial surgical training at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, Charing Cross Hospital and Singleton & Morriston Hospitals, Swansea, and specialist training in Orthopaedics & Trauma at the London Hospital, Queen’s Medical Centre,Nottingham and St George’s Hospital London. I was Senior lecturer in orthopaedics at Charing Cross and Westminster Hospitals, before completing my training with a Fellowship in knee & arthroscopic surgery in Melbourne, Australia. I have published on a variety of orthopaedic topics and also developed a novel surgical intramedullary nail for fixation of fractures involving the lower end of the thigh bone and knee, in partnership with Biomet UK Ltd. I am also an active member of the British Medical Association (BMA), as past Chair of Bucks Division and also past chair of the Oxford Region Consultants and Specialists Committee (RCSC) and a representative on the national Central Consultants and Specialists Committee (CCSC).
