Mr Emanuele Garreffa

Mr Emanuele Garreffa is a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon based at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton, where he is also the Programme Director of the BRESO international fellowship programme, which attracts international surgeons coming to the UK to train in breast surgical oncology and oncoplastic breast surgery under his supervision. Mr Garreffa completed his specialist breast surgery training in Italy, complemented by two fellowships in Derby and Cambridge where he gained further experience in the most advanced oncoplastic breast-preserving operations as well as reconstructive procedures. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and of the European Board of Surgery and in 2021, was awarded the European Certification in Breast Surgical Oncology, making one of the few BRESO certified surgeons in the UK. Mr Garreffa has published several research works on oncoplastic and reconstructive breast surgery. Mr Garreffa treats all aspects of breast disease, benign or cancerous, and patients with a family history of breast cancer. He utilises the latest oncoplastic techniques such as therapeutic mammoplasty, partial breast reconstruction with chest wall perforator flaps, full breast reconstruction with implant, LD muscle flap or chest wall perforator flaps, and lipofilling techniques.
