I studied for my medical degree at Cambridge University achieving a first class degree. My ophthalmology specialist training was in Cambridge and Liverpool, with Surgical and Medical Retinal fellowships at St Thomas' Hospital and Moorfields. I was appointed as consultant in Taunton in 2006. I set up and lead the macular degeneration service in Taunton. Consultant Ophthalmic Advisor to the RNLI 2014-2024 Lead Clinician in Taunton since 2017-2021 In 2018 I was honoured to receive a national clinical service excellence award from the Macular Society. In my spare time I enjoy sailing, cycling and running. I ran my first half-marathon in 2018, raising funds for Somerset Sight.

Special clinical interests
Specialist in small incision cataract surgery, offering premium lens implants to correct astigmatism or reduce the need for reading glasses. Extensive experience and training in retinal surgery and medical retina. I perform injections for macular degeneration; diabetic macular oedema and retinal vein occlusion. Surgery for retinal detachment, macular hole, epiretinal membrane and complications of diabetes. I also undertake retinal laser and laser capsulotomy.
