Mr Dr Shafiq Ahmad Chughtai

Mr Shafiq Ahmad Chughtai is a Consultant Upper Gastrointestinal and Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) Surgeon based in South Wales, with over 17 years of surgical experience and specialist training in upper GI, HPB and transplant surgery in the UK and internationally. He is currently a Consultant Upper GI Surgeon at Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board and undertakes both NHS and private practice. His clinical expertise includes complex gallbladder disease, laparoscopic and open bile duct exploration, abdominal wall reconstruction, and laparoscopic and open hernia surgery. Mr Chughtai holds a Master’s degree in Transplantation (Distinction, University of Liverpool) and has completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Ultrasound. He is a GMC-recognised trainer, has published in peer-reviewed journals, and is actively involved in audit, teaching, and service development.
