Surgical training Mr Kumar competed his specialist orthopaedic training in North-West on Manchester rotation in year 2006. During his training he also worked at famous Robert Jones & Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital in Oswestry and Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham. Having established an interest in management of complex orthopaedic problems affecting Hip and Knee joints he also undertook further specialist training in the UK and overseas at the end of the training programme. Fellowship Mr Kumar went to Toronto, Canada in July 2006 for 6 months fellowship at the Toronto East General Hospital. During this period he worked with Drs Maistrelli, Kraemer and Wong and gained extensive experience in lower limb arthroplasty particularly uncemented hip replacements and revision surgery. He also had an opportunity to visit Dr John Cameron at the Sunnybrook Orthopaedic and Arthritis Hospital in Toronto to see the complex Osteotomies around the Knee joint. Mr Kumar also visited Dr Allan Gross, who has extensive experience of using allografts in revision hip and knee surgery, at the Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. On return from Canada, Mr Kumar joined a fellowship at The University Hospital of Leicester, which has a large arthroplasty Unit. He received an excellent training in all aspects of knee surgery including soft tissue surgery and hip arthroplasty including revision surgery. He worked in Leicester for just over 7 months before he was appointed as a Consultant at Wythenshawe hospital in September 2007.
