Mr Anwar Jafri

His undergraduate education was at the Universities of Birmingham and Newcastle and he completed both his basic and higher surgical training in the North of England. Following his qualification as a Consultant he spent one year in Auckland, New Zealand doing the prestigious Revision Arthroplasty and Trauma Fellowship, where he gained further experience in performing complex joint replacements and reconstruction of failing hip and knee replacements. Mr Jafri maintains an active interest in education, training and research. He is author and contributor to a number of papers that have been published worldwide and also continues to present his research both nationally and internationally. Research Mr Jafri is committed to research and has a number of publications and presentations ranging from articles on optimal techniques of femoral stems cementation to novel techniques at reducing the risk of infections in joint replacement surgery. He also acted as a reviewer of scientific articles for the British Medical Journal. He is involved with the North Tees unit in research into metal on metal hips and is North Tees trust lead for the regional Peri-prosthetic Joint Infection Network meetings. Teaching Mr Jafri is the undergraduate lead for teaching at the University Hospital of North Tees and Hartlepool and has been appointed as an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Newcastle. Current posts He is currently a Consultant Lower Limb and Trauma Surgeon at University Hospital of North Tees and Hartlepool.
