Trained at Moorfields Eye Hospital and Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital. Consultant at Addenbrookes Hospital and The Eye Treatment Centre, Bury St Edmunds. A special interest in adult and children's squint surgery and an experienced adult cataract surgeon having performed over 5000 procedures with very low complication rates.  Current Educational role as the Head of Postgraduate School of Ophthalmology, Health Education England (East of England). Past President of British and Irish Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Association. Roles at The Royal College of Ophthalmologists have included Regional Representative for East of England, Member of the Council, Scientific Committee, Training Committee and Paediatric sub-committee of the Clinical Standards Committee. Research interests have resulted in over 45 peer-reviewed publications and over 10 chapters in international textbooks. Clinical research has included developing novel assessment tools for children and adults with squints and developing new surgical methods and equipment which has resulted in many invited lectures across the world. Overseas charity work includes projects in Bangladesh and Botswana for Orbis and Addenbrookes abroad.
