GMC reg: 6054449Andrew is a consultant ophthalmologist at Princess Alexandra Eye Pavilion and The Edinburgh Clinic where he specialises in glaucoma and cataract surgery. He was the first ophthalmologist in Scotland to perform the minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) procedures, iStent, Xen and Microshunt. He is also an NHS Scotland Research Clinician at University of Edinburgh where his research focuses on new methods of drug delivery, optic nerve and retinal imaging, and development of new tools for visual field assessment. Andrew is a member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists’ Scientific Committee and is an invited member of the British Eye Research Group. He is also editor of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists’ Focus series. He has a keen interest in education and is a member of the European Glaucoma Society communication and education committees. He is also a module lead for the University of Edinburgh Primary Care Ophthalmology MSc program and has recently been invited to teach eye care professionals in China, USA and Europe. He is an invited faculty member of the World Glaucoma Association meeting in Melbourne next year. Andrew is a past recipient of the ARVO Innovative Research Award, Tenovus Scotland Lady Illingworth Award, Pfizer Ophthalmic Fellowship.
