I have been a consultant oncoplastic breast surgeon for over 10 years, and I am an expert in all aspects of breast diseases and surgery. I specialise in breast cancer oncoplastic and reconstructive surgery and all cosmetic breast surgery. I have been awarded around 6 million pounds grant funding by NIHR HTA for breast cancer research. I lead the large breast cancer surgical research trials in the UK – POSNOC and ATNEC. I am the Oncology and Breast Specialty Editor of the Surgery journal (UK). I am the breast research lead for East Midlands. I am the Chief Investigator of the BIOSYM randomised breast reconstruction trial that compares synthetic with biological matrices. I received the 2012 NHS Innovation Award (Health Enterprise East) for developing DigiBreast3D – a low-cost 3D surface imaging system in reconstructive and cosmetic breast surgery. I was the co-recipient of the NHS Cancer Innovation Award 2007 for introducing intra-operative sentinel node assessment to reduce the number of second operations for patients needing axillary node clearance. I have presented work at different meetings and am the author or co-author of more than 80 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters on breast diseases.
