Mr Alex Liddle

Mr Liddle is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip and knee surgery, and is Clinical Senior Lecturer in Orthopaedic Surgery at Imperial College London. His NHS practice is based at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust where he performs elective (planned) surgery at Charing Cross Hospital and trauma surgery at the North West London Major Trauma Centre at St Mary's Hospital. His Private Practice is based at King Edward VII's Hospital in central London and he holds weekly clinics there and at St John and St Elizabeth's Hospital in St John's Wood. He performs surgery at both hospitals as well as the Wellington Hospital and the Private Patient Units at St Mary's (the Lindo Wing) and Charing Cross Hospital. He sees patients with a range of hip and knee problems; his surgical interests include partial knee replacement (including unicompartmental and patellofemoral replacement), primary and revision total knee replacement, arthroscopic knee surgery, hip resurfacing, primary and revision hip replacement, and lower limb trauma surgery (in particular, complex peri-articular and periprosthetic fractures around the hip and knee). Mr Liddle is a clinical academic and is a key opinion leader in joint replacement topics, in particular partial knee replacement, internationally. He holds a number of research grants and has published over 65 papers in peer reviewed journals, which have been cited over 4,000 times. He is Surgical Speciality Lead for Elective Orthopaedic Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons, sits on the Research Committee of the British Orthopaedic Association and the Editorial Board of the Bone and Joint Journal (the highest impact general orthopaedic journal in the world), and is Associate Editor at Bone and Joint Open. He is co-founder and Chief Clinical Officer at Osstec, a start-up specialising in advanced joint replacement implants, and consults for a number of international orthopaedic companies. Mr Liddle's practice is based on excellent communication, meticulous planning and evidence-based, personalised surgery.
