Mr Alex Anderson is a highly renowned consultant orthopaedic knee surgeon based in Sheffield who specialises exclusively in all aspects of knee surgery, including cartilage repair, keyhole arthroscopy and ligament reconstruction alongside osteotomy, total and partial knee replacement, and treatment for knee pain. With almost 2 decades of consultant-level experience, Mr Anderson currently sees patients at Spire Claremont Hospital and at Thornbury Hospital. His NHS base is at The Rotherham, where he is also Clinical Director. Mr Anderson, who is a senior partner at the renowned Sheffield Orthopaedics, qualified from the University of Newcastle in 1996. After completing basic surgical training in East Anglia, Mr Anderson undertook his higher surgical orthopaedic training in South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire before going on to accomplish two prestigious UK knee surgery fellowships, one in Harrogate and another in Sheffield. This training, which included state-of-the-art instruction with past presidents of the British Orthopaedic Association and British Association of Knee Surgery, quickly led to the award of Mr Anderson’s FRCS (Orth) from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh – such that Mr Anderson was only 32 years old when he took up his first substantive consultant orthopaedic surgeon post, being one of the youngest ever consultant surgical appointments in the UK. With a wealth of expertise in all types of knee problems, Mr Anderson is consistently recognised for his tailored professional care and notable surgical outcomes. Working in partnership with highly qualified physicians, Mr Anderson works to get his patients to full function as quickly and easily as possible, ensuring premium care at all stages of the patient journey. Beyond his specialist surgical practice, Mr Anderson is an experienced educational supervisor and clinical researcher closely involved in international research trials. He is, at present, an honorary senior lecturer at the University of Sheffield and a member of various orthopaedic organisations, such as the British Association for Surgery of the Knee.
