Mr Mohammed Akmal

Graduated from Imperial College London , a well-recognised internationally renowned institution, and completed specialist orthopaedic training in London, followed by advanced spinal fellowship training in Oxford , one of the world’s leading academic and clinical centres. He has over 25 years’ experience as a consultant in orthopaedics and spinal surgery. He was awarded a Doctorate in Medicine in 2005 and published a doctoral thesis in cartilage tissue engineering . He has an extensive publication record relating to spinal conditions and spinal surgical techniques. He is a highly experienced specialist in all aspects of spinal surgery and has been extensively involved in the training and mentorship of orthopaedic and spinal surgeons . He previously served as Clinical Lead for Spinal Surgery at St Mary’s Hospital, London , and Clinical Director of Trauma and Orthopaedics at Imperial Healthcare NHS Trust , and also worked as a commissioner for Islington NHS. He is now retired from NHS practice. He is Medical Director of The Harley Street Hospital and runs a specialist private spinal practice at The London Spine Unit on Harley Street . He is a well-recognised, internationally renowned spinal surgeon , acting as a preferred provider of second opinions for complex spinal surgery for major insurance companies and as a medico-legal expert in complex spine cases.
