Mr Mohamed Ismail

I have been a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust since 2016, with a subspecialist focus on endourology, particularly HoLEP and the management of complex urinary stone disease. My practice includes high-volume flexible ureteroscopy, percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL), and extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL). I have extensive experience in treating complex and recurrent kidney stones using minimally invasive techniques. I am highly experienced in HoLEP (Laser prostatectomy) for the management of benign prostatic enlargement, providing an effective, durable, and minimally invasive alternative to traditional prostate surgery. I am committed to delivering the highest standards of patient care and to improving awareness and understanding of urinary stone disease through patient education and clinical engagement. I graduated from Baghdad University in 1999 and was awarded a PhD in Urology from the University of Surrey in 2009, where my research focused on the molecular and immunological treatment of prostate diseases. I completed my specialist urological training in the South West of England, followed by an advanced 20-month fellowship in stone disease and laparoscopic surgery at the Bristol Urological Institute in 2015.
