 l have been a full-time consultant ophthalmic surgeon (eye doctor/surgeon) at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital, which serves a population of approximately 550,000 people since 2016. I specifically specialise in oculoplastic or ophthalmic plastic surgery. My areas of expertise include eyelid surgery for functional or cosmetic purposes, removal of skin cancers around the eyes and subsequent reconstruction, watery eyes, thyroid eye disease, facial palsy, orbital surgery for tumours, orbital fractures as well as orbital decompression for thyroid eye disease. As a result of my specialism I receive tertiary referrals from Norfolk, Suffolk, and Essex. I routinely perform more than 400 eye procedures every year. My background and expertise set me apart from general plastic and cosmetic surgeons. I do emergency work and I am the senior on-call ophthalmologist, managing any ophthalmic emergency. I am also the lead for clinical governance within ophthalmology department at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital ensuring patient safety. I trained for over ten years in ophthalmology in Liverpool, Manchester and London, which is standard training in the United Kingdom. I obtained fellowships in oculoplastic and orbital surgery in Liverpool and East Grinstead and undertook further training in Los Angeles and Vancouver. I also completed advanced training in ocular motility and neuro-ophthalmology in Liverpool that complements my practice. I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and a member of the British Oculoplastic Surgery Society and American Academy of Ophthalmology. I am also a qualified medico-legal expert witness, having received Cardiff University Expert Witness Certificate. My work relates to clinical negligence and personal injury claims. I have provided reports and advice for clinical negligence/fitness to practice cases involving ophthalmologists, optometrists, plastic/cosmetic surgeons, and general practitioners.
