GMC reg: 3245136My name is Kate Panter and I am a female consultant gynaecologist in private practice in Wimbledon, Kingston-upon-Thames, New Malden and South West London. I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and I have been practising as a doctor since 1987. I currently work at Parkside Hospital in Wimbledon, The New Victoria Hospital in Kingston upon Thames and The New Malden Diagnostic Centre. I think all of these offer patients excellent facilities and care and each has its own character. I try hard to help my patients feel at ease during a consultation, recognising how it feels to be a patient. I believe in individualising care where different options exist, and in taking time to explain what the treatment choices are, so that my patients can make an informed decision in as unpressured an environment as possible. I have professional contact with other consultants, physiotherapists and allied therapists to whom I readily refer patients as part of their treatment where appropriate. I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and have been a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist since 2001. I have over 20 years of experience working in the NHS including eight years as a Consultant at Kingston Hospital NHS Trust. After studying medicine at Cambridge University and St Thomas's Hospital Medical School I trained at St Thomas's Hospital, Queen Charlotte's and Chelsea Hospital, The Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Hospital and Ashford Hospital. Between 1993 and 1996 I was a Clinical and Research Fellow in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Toronto. In 2000 I was awarded a Medical Doctorate by the University of London for my thesis on preterm labour. From 1996 to 2001 I was a Senior Registrar in the South West Thames Region working at St Helier NHS Trust and The Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford. During this period I had an honorary contract at King's College Hospital and trained with Professor Kypros Nicolaides at the Harris Birthright Fetal Medicine Centre. In 2001 I was appointed as a Consultant at Kingston Hospital NHS Trust, where I had a post encompassing both Obstetrics and Gynaecology. I decided to leave my NHS post in 2009 and now practice solely in the private sector. In 2017 I was certified as a Menopause Specialist by the British Menopause Society. Although I follow the convention of calling myself "Miss Panter" professionally, I am married with three children and live in Wimbledon.
