Dr Michael Tarzi is a Consultant Clinical Immunologist, with expertise in the diagnosis and management of allergic conditions and immunodeficiency. His particular interests are the medical management of allergic rhinitis, desensitisation treatments for allergens such as pollen, dust mite, and animal danders, insect venom allergy, urticaria and angioedema, anaphylaxis, and food allergy. Dr Tarzi has over 20 years experience in Allergy&Immunology. He trained at Cambridge and Imperial College School of Medicine, followed by junior doctor roles at the Royal London and surrounding Hospitals. This was followed by a research fellowship at the National Heart and Lung Instiute, where he completed a Doctorate in the field of novel desensitisation for insect venom allergy. Dr Tarzi returned to clinical medicine as a specialty trainee in Clinical Immunology at Barts Health NHS Trust. In 2008, Dr Tarzi was appointed Senior Lecturer&Consultant Immunologist at Brighton&Sussex Medical School&University Hospitals Sussex. The clinical service developed by the late Professor Frew and Dr Tarzi is now the regional provider for specialist allergy in Sussex. Dr Tarzi leads the Allergy Service based at The Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton. He also manages the diagnostic immunology laboratory and is the Clinical Lead for Blood Sciences, with additional responsibilities in medical education and clinical trials.
