Mr Michael Smith

After qualifying from the University of Glasgow Medical School Michael undertook his general ophthalmic training in the South West of England, Manchester and Brisbane, Australia. In 2008 he completed a Fellowship in Medical and Surgical Glaucoma at the University of Toronto, Canada. Later the same year he was appointed as glaucoma consultant in Exeter

Michael’s areas of expertise • Cataract surgery, including toric lens implantation for astigmatism and extended depth of focus lenses • All aspects of glaucoma management including laser and surgical treatments Michael has over 20 years of experience as a cataract surgeon and has undertaken thousands of surgeries. He is also very experienced in all aspects of glaucoma management and was one of the first doctors in the UK to introduce Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT) into his daily practice
