Dr. Matthew Wireko, MBchB FRCP (Edin) and FRCP (UK) I am a Consultant Gastroenterologist based at the Woodthorpe Hospital  but also provide my expertise at  various secondary care hospitals across the UK. I am the Endoscopy Lead at the Woodthorpe Hospital. My area of expertise is in Endoscopy. I am a level 2 Colonoscopy specialist able to perform complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including complex and large polypectomies and Endoscopic Mucosa Resection (EMR). I have excellent knowledge and very experienced in the management of wide ranging gastroenterology conditions.  Over the past ten years I have consistently performed more than 2000 endoscopic procedures annually and my quality key performance indicators (KPI) have always been  above the recommended level set by the Joint Advisory Group on GI Endoscopy (JAG).  Gastroenterology conditions Undertaking: Dyspepsia (indigestion) Barrett`s oesophagus Dysphagia (Difficulty in swallowing) Peptic Ulcer Diseases Treating of Resistant H Pylori Change in bowel habit Inflammatory bowel Disease (IBD) Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) General Hepatology including investigation of abnormal Liver Tests Procedures Undertaking : Gastroscopy (Most Patients refer to this as Endoscopy) Colonoscopy Removal of Polyps including complex polyps Polypectomy and Endoscopic Mucosa Resection Capsule Endoscopy Dilatation of strictures Treating of Bleeding from the Gastrointestinal tract Academic Background : I had my Specialist Gastroenterology and General Internal Medicine Rotation at the East midlands Deanery in the United Kingdom, rotating through Nottingham University Hospital, Derby Royal Hospital and Chesterfield Royal Hospital. I have Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship qualification from the Nottingham University Hospital NHS Trust in the United Kingdom.   I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Edinburgh and also Royal College of England.
