Mr Martyn Evans has been a Consultant Surgeon at Singleton and Morriston Hospital, Swansea since 2012. He is a General Surgeon with a specialist interest in Colorectal Surgery. Mr Evans trained at Southampton Medical School and completed higher surgical training in General and Colorectal surgery on the All Wales Higher Surgical Training Scheme. During this period he was awarded a European Society of Coloproctology travelling fellowship to Rouen, France. After completing higher training he undertook further specialist fellowships in laparoscopic colorectal surgery and surgery to treat advanced and recurrent pelvic malignancy at the John Goligher Colorectal Unit in Leeds and with the Swansea Pelvic Oncology Group. During Surgical Training Mr. Evans undertook a higher degree by research that focused on colorectal cancer. He also won the British Journal of Surgery prize for research at the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland annual meeting. He is a lead clinician for the annual Welsh Bowel Cancer Audit, an Editor for the journal BJS (formerly the British Journal of Surgery) and a peer reviewer for the British Medical Journal Action Sets series and the British Journal of Surgery. He has published over 75 research papers on many aspects of General and Colorectal Surgery and authored 5 book chapters on surgery.
