GMC reg: 7143755Professor Martin Kaiser is the Chair of Haematology at The Institute of Cancer Research and an Honorary Consultant Haematologist at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, specialised in the management of multiple myeloma and related precursor conditions, smouldering myeloma and MGUS. Professor Kaiser’s key research interest is the genetic and immune environment characterisation of multiple myeloma, a cancer of bone marrow plasma cells, with the aim of designing gentler, tailored therapies for patients. A particular focus of his work is high-risk myeloma and . His team conducted the OPTIMUM trial, one of the first trials globally to offer innovative diagnostics and tailored therapy for patients with high-risk myeloma, which translated basic research from his team’s work into clinical application. He has a specific interest in state of the art myeloma diagnostics, including whole body MRI, genetic and gene expression diagnostics and bone marrow and MRD diagnostics for precision treatment. Professor Kaiser is member of the International Myeloma Society and International Myeloma Working Group, the American Society of Hematology, the European Myeloma Network, the European Haematology Association, and the UK Myeloma Society, and is an author of international and national myeloma guidelines. He is vice-chair and incoming chair of the UK national clinical trial group, the UKMRA.
