This information is provided by Mr Martin Chamberlain.
I undertook my undergraduate medical training at the University of Bristol, qualifying in 1993. After teaching anatomy at the University of Birmingham I spent time in Oxford and at Papworth Hospital in Cambridge before returning to Bristol for a period of research. My registrar training was shared between Leicester, Sheffield and Nottingham during which time I gained my FRCS(C-Th) and specialist recognition in Thoracic Surgery. I commenced my current post as Consultant Thoracic Surgeon at Southampton General Hospital in June 2010. I perform all aspects of adult thoracic surgery excluding oesophageal surgery and undertake close to 300 operations a year. I perform both RATS (Robotic Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery), VATS (Video Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery) and Open surgery. I am married, have two adult sons and am a keen cyclist.
