GMC reg: 2838397I have been a Consultant General and Gastro-intestinal surgeon for 27 years. I completed my Medical Qualifications at Oxford University and St Thomas's Hospital qualifying in 1983. Much of my training as a General Surgeon was in the Merseyside area and I was appointed a Consultant General Surgeon at Warrington Hospital in 1995. My key subspecialty within General Surgery is Upper Gastro-intestinal Surgery. I have extensive experience of laparoscopic (keyhole) techniques. I carry out surgery for gallstone disease cholecystectomy. I investigate upper abdominal pain, dyspepsia and swallowing difficulties (including endoscopy, oesophageal manometry, 24 hour oesophageal pH study). I also specialise in surgery for abdominal hernias including inguinal, femoral, umbilical and ventral hernias. I also work as an Appraiser and I am involved in Medical Education.
