GMC reg: 3140592I have been a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon based at Poole Hospital since February 2000. I also consult privately at the BMI Harbour Hospital in Poole and at the Bournemouth Nuffield Hospital. You can find further information about my Foot and Ankle Surgery interests at www.dfac.co.uk , for information about Shockwave Therapy please visit www.shockwavesouth.co.uk I was appointed to Poole Hospital and Bournemouth Hospital in 2000 as a general orthopaedic surgeon with a specialist interest in lower limb, foot, ankle and trauma surgery. I left Bournemouth Hospital in 2016. Having graduated from Queen’s University, Belfast in 1986 I completed my basic surgical training through the Royal Army Medical Corps during a 5 year short service commission in the army. After leaving the army I completed my higher specialist training in orthopaedic surgery in the Yorkshire rotation. During training I carried out his sub-speciality fellowship training in complex trauma and limb reconstruction surgery in the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield under the supervision of Professor Michael Saleh. The Northern General Hospital has an internationally recognised limb reconstruction department. I gained experience in correction of deformities of the lower limbs, lengthening of lower limbs and correction of complex foot and ankle deformities. I also trained with a number of specialist foot and ankle surgeons in the Yorkshire region. My current practice, as well as foot and ankle surgery, includes hip and knee surgery including hip replacement, knee replacement, knee arthroscopy as well as all complex trauma problems in both lower and upper limbs. I have recently developed further specialist skills to perform minimally invasive bunion and other foot surgery.

Trauma and orthopaedic surgery - Trauma & Orthopaedics
I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with over 20 years experience. I perform a full range of Orthopaedic and Trauma operations including Hip and Knee Replacement. I have specialist interests in Foot and Ankle surgery, Complex Trauma problems, Fracture Healing Problems and Limb Reconstruction. Minimally Invasive Bunion Surgery. Ultrasound Treatment for Bone Healing problems. I am performing several specialist, non surgical treatments to benefit my patients affected with difficult conditions. These treatments are only available from a hand full of specialists in the UK. Shockwave Therapy is used for chronic tendon problems such as Achilles Tendonitis, Plantar Fasciitis and Tennis Elbow. This is now usually provided by physiotherapists. I treat patients who have experienced failure of bone healing with low intensity pulsed ultrasound from the Exogen device. This will stimulate healing in unhealed fractures and Orthopaedic bone procedures without having to resort to further surgery. I am also performing minimally invasive bunion correction surgery. Please see your GP for a referral for any of these procedures.
