GMC reg: 6160119Mr Adams graduated from Queen’s University, Belfast medical school in 2007 and subsequently undertook foundation & basic surgical training across all of Northern Ireland’s major teaching hospitals. He also gained experience working for 1 year in accident & emergency medicine in Melbourne, Australia. In 2016 he was admitted to the higher surgical training programme for otolaryngology (ENT). Through his higher training he quickly developed a keen interest in caring for patients with cancer of the ear, nose & throat region. He is sub-specialised in the investigation & treatment of benign & malignant (cancerous) tumours of the throat, tonsils, nose/sinuses, larynx (voicebox), salivary glands & thyroid. He has conducted clinical research in areas such as early-stage cancer of the larynx and post-treatment surveillance and has presented his work in these areas at both national and international fora. . In 2022 he returned to Melbourne to undertake an advanced fellowship head & neck and thyroid cancer surgery at Monash Health, one of Australia's leading centres for the management of these conditions. In 2023 he was appointed to the role of consultant head & neck surgeon at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast. He is a core member of the Northern Ireland regional MDT (tumour boards) for both thyroid and head & neck cancer. He is a member of ENTUK, the UK’s representative body for ENT surgeons, as well as various other national & international societies for the management of cancer of the head & neck, including the Irish Head & Neck Society, the British Head & Neck Society, the European Head & Neck Society and the British Association of Thyroid & Endocrine Surgeons. He also has a keen interest in benign growths of the salivary glands & thyroid, as well as maintaining a practice in general benign ENT in both adult & paediatric patients. He is fully trained in the use of coblation, which represents the cutting-edge technique for the removal of adenoids & tonsils in young children.
