Mr Marios-Konstantinos Tasoulis

Mr Marios Konstantinos Tasoulis is a Consultant Breast Surgeon at The Royal Marsden. Mr Tasoulis specialises in oncoplastic breast surgery with a special interest in surgical de-escalation (less extensive surgery) after neoadjuvant systemic therapy. To achieve this, he is working closely with the Breast Multidisciplinary Team (medical and radiation oncologists and plastic surgeons) to offer the best possible oncologic and aesthetic outcomes. He also has an interest in the management of breast implant-associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma (BIA-ALCL), a rare type of blood cancer associated with breast implants. Mr Tasoulis studied medicine at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece, and completed his PhD at the same University in 2012, having been awarded scholarships for his undergraduate and postgraduate studies. After completing his surgical training in Athens, Mr Tasoulis was awarded a fellowship from the European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO) and worked at the Breast Unit at Yale University, New Haven, USA as a Visiting Assistant Professor, before joining The Royal Marsden Hospital initially as an Oncoplastic Breast Surgery Fellow and later as a Consultant Breast Surgeon. Mr Tasoulis is the lead trainer at The Royal Marsden Hospital for the National Advanced Training in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery Fellowship. He teaches courses at The Royal College of Surgeons of England and was admitted into the Faculty of Surgical Trainers of The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Mr Tasoulis has served as a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Trainee Council (2017-2018) and is actively involved in mentoring young oncology professionals through the ASCO Virtual Mentoring Programme. Recently, he graduated from the prestigious ASCO Education Scholars Program (Class of 2022-23) for leaders in medical education and he serves as an examiner for the European Board Exam in Breast Surgery and on the Oncoplastic Breast Surgery Certification Taskforce of the American Society of Breast Surgeons. Mr Tasoulis is actively involved in clinical research. His main research interest includes de-escalation of breast and axillary surgery in patients with exceptional response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy. He has been the Chief Investigator and local Principle Investigator on numerous national and international studies. He is part of national and international clinical trials steering committees, and he has served on the Research Committee of the American Society of Breast Surgeons.
