Ms Marie-Klaire Farrugia

Marie-Klaire Farrugia is a Consultant Paediatric Urologist and previous Clinical Director for Paediatric Surgery in Chelsea & Westminster and Imperial College Hospitals, London, UK. She is amongst the first robotic paediatric surgeons in the UK, with a 12 year experience and an interest in minimally-invasive and endoscopic surgery. Following medical school in Malta, she trained in Paediatric Surgery and Urology in leading UK centres including Great Ormond Street Hospital, Kings College, Oxford and Southampton University hospitals. She obtained a research doctorate from the University of London on her research on fetal bladder outlet obstruction. She has since been elected as an honorary senior lecturer by Imperial College London. Her clinical and academic special interests include congenital urinary tract conditions including vesicoureteric reflux, megaureter, and posterior urethral valves.  Miss Farrugia is the Fetal and Perinatal section Editor of the Journal of Pediatric Urology, and an executive committee member of the European Society of Pediatric Urology. She has published over 60 publications including peer-reviewed articles, educational modules and book chapters. When not working, she is likely to be found in a Crossfit box.
