Professor Manuel Dominik Fischer

After receiving his medical school training in Munich, Zurich and Melbourne, Professor Fischer completed his clinical and research training at the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Tübingen in Germany and the University of Oxford, where he read Clinical Neuroscience at Merton College and received his second doctorate for developing a new form of retinal therapy. In 2012, Professor Fischer became a member of the medical faculty at the Eberhard Karl University Tübingen. In 2020, he was offered the position of Chair of Ophthalmology at the Justus Liebig University Giessen, but chose instead to return to Oxford to accept a position as Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at the Oxford Eye Hospital and a full Professorship at the University of Oxford.

Professor Dominik Fischer is an award-winning consultant ophthalmic surgeon, specialising in cataracts and retinal disorders. He is passionate about providing highly personalised care utilising the latest technology and developments in ophthalmic surgery.
