Dr Malcolm Farquharson

Dr Malcolm Farquharson is a highly experienced Consultant Gynaecologist and Gynaecological Oncology Surgeon, practising at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. He specialises in complex open and minimal-access ‘keyhole’ surgery, including advanced laparoscopic and robotic techniques, for both benign and malignant gynaecological conditions. Dr Farquharson graduated from theUniversity of Glasgow in 2008 and completed specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the West of Scotland, gaining sub-specialist accreditation in Gynaecological Oncology. He holds a PhD in Cancer Sciences, awarded for research into chemotherapy resistance in ovarian cancer at the Wolfson Wohl Cancer Research Centre. He remains actively involved in clinical research and has published widely in scientific and medical journals. Within his NHS practice, he was one of the first gynaecologists in the West of Scotland to perform robotic surgery. He is highly skilled in performing complex procedures using advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) techniques, ensuring the best possible outcomes for his patients. He also has experience in risk-reducing surgery for women who are at higher risk of ovarian cancer (BRCA gene mutations) and uterine cancer (Lynch syndrome). Dr Farquharson is a trained Colposcopist and a registered member of the British Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (BSCCP). He undertakes cervical screening and colposcopic treatment for pre-cancerous cervical changes. Dr Farquharson believes in a caring, honest and individualised approach, ensuring every patient receives the highest standard of care tailored to their needs.
