Dr Mahesh Bhalme

Dr Bhalme qualified in 2002 from Mumbai University and completed higher specialist gastroenterology training in North West England and an advanced liver fellowship at St James University Hospital, Leeds. He worked as a locum consultant at the liver transplant unit in Leeds before taking up his current post at the Royal Bolton Hospital in 2013 as a Consultant Hepatologist and Gastroenterologist with an interest in endoscopy. He has served in several leadership roles over the years including Clinical Director of gastroenterology and endoscopy, HPB cancer lead, Alcohol and Liver lead and as Deputy Divisional Director of medicine. He has expertise in performing diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopy or OGD, colonoscopy and endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreaticogram or ERCP. He is an accredited national bowel cancer screening colonoscopist. He has research interest in liver disease and has authored several publications and is a principal investigator for several clinical trials.
