Mr Maciej Pawlak MD, FRCS(Ad Eundem), FEBS (AWS), PhD Consultant Upper GI and Abdominal Wall Surgeon Golden Jubilee National University Hospital & Ross Hall Hospital, Glasgow Mr Maciej Pawlak is a Consultant Surgeon specialising in Abdominal Wall Surgery (AWS) and Upper Gastrointestinal (UGI) Surgery. Based at the Golden Jubilee National University Hospital and Ross Hall Hospital in Glasgow, he provides a comprehensive range of advanced minimally invasive and robotic procedures for complex hernia and abdominal wall reconstruction, as well as upper GI and biliary surgery. His practice encompasses the full spectrum of hernia surgery—including inguinal, femoral, umbilical, epigastric, incisional, and complex abdominal wall reconstruction—using open, laparoscopic, and robotic approaches such as r-TAPP, eTEP, and r-TARUP. He also performs revisional procedures for chronic pain and recurrent hernia, botulinum toxin-assisted component separation, and minimally invasive techniques for rectus diastasis. In the field of Upper GI Surgery, Mr Pawlak manages gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), hiatus hernias, and benign oesophageal and gastric disorders, offering advanced laparoscopic procedures including fundoplication, hiatus hernia repair, and cholecystectomy with bile duct exploration. At the Golden Jubilee, he is leading the establishment of a dedicated Abdominal Wall Service, integrating enhanced recovery, multidisciplinary planning, and state-of-the-art robotic platforms to optimise surgical outcomes and patient experience.
