I have been a consultant surgeon since 1998 and apply the considerable experience gained during this time to my clinical practice. I treat a large number of patients who suffer with varicose veins. I led endovenous treatment of varicose veins in South Wales and continue to provide modern treatment of varicose veins including endothermal ablation of vein trunks using both laser and radiofrequency. Ultrasound guided foam sclerotherapy, and microsclerotherapy for thread veins.  I also treat patients with: Aneurysmal disease affecting the aorta and popliteal arteries Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) causing pain on walking (intermittent claudication) and in severe cases gangrene and ulceration.  I manage patients with Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, a condition that causes pain, numbness, tingling, colour changes of the upper limb. I was the surgeon that set up and now quality assures the Wales Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening Programme launched in May 2013. I have had extensive roles leading the training of the new generation of surgeons. I was the first Head of the Wales School of Postgraduate Surgery in 2006-2011. it gives me immense pleasure to see it continue being successful. I was also a founding member of the Specialty Accreditation Committee for the new specialty of Vascular Surgery from 2012-2017 and am the Regional Specialty Adviser for Vascular Surgery to Wales, on behalf of the RCS England. I examine at undergraduate final surgical examinations and also sit on the exam board and examine, for the Joint Committee for Intercollegiate Examinations for the exit examination of FRCS Vascular Surgery, a requirement for trainees to be eligible to apply for consultant vascular surgical posts
