GMC reg: 6087947Mr Lorenzo Garagnani OSI MD PGDip (Aesthetic & Wellness Medicine) FRCS EBHS Diploma in Hand Surgery Mr Garagnani is a world renowned, highly specialised adult and paediatric Consultant Hand & Wrist Surgeon. He treats all disorders of the hand and wrist and his main sub-specialist interests are paediatric hand surgery, surgery of the congenital anomalies of the hand and upper limb and complex wrist surgery. Mr Garagnani was a founder and the first Lead surgeon of the Orthoplastic Hand Unit at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in London. He is also Honorary Reader (senior Associate Professor equivalent) at the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine of King’s College London (KCL). Mr Garagnani is Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and also holds the European Diploma in Hand Surgery. Mr Garagnani qualified and specialised in Trauma and Orthopaedics in Bologna (Italy) where he trained at the world-renowned Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute. He completed his sub-specialist training in Hand & Wrist Surgery in centres of excellence in the UK such as the Hand Unit/Plastic Surgery Department of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London, the Oxford University Hospitals’ Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Department, the Hand Clinic in Windsor, and the Plastic Surgery Department of Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London. Previous Consultant posts held by Mr Garagnani include the Humanitas Clinical Institute in Milan (Italy), the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London and the Hand Surgery and Microsurgery Department of Modena University Hospital (Italy) where he was joint Lead of the Paediatric Hand Surgery Service. Mr Garagnani’s research focuses on innovative and minimally invasive techniques for increased safety and reduction of morbidity. He is author of numerous peer reviewed scientific publications and regular speaker and invited faculty member at national and international conferences and courses. He is also a pioneer of hand rejuvenation, having been the first hand surgeon to publish anatomically based and original hand rejuvenation injections techniques that he teaches globally. In 2022, he was awarded the Knighthood of the Order of the Star of Italy (OSI) in recognition of his career and coordination of a volunteers’ task-force during the Covid-19 pandemic. Mr Garagnani is Member of several international hand surgery societies, past member of the Guidelines Committee of the Italian Society for Surgery of the Hand (SICM), founding Member and past President of the Pediatric Hand International Society of Surgeons (PHISOS), current President of the Italian Medical Society of Great Britain (IMSoGB), GSTT Director of the International Bone Research Association (IBRA)’s London Upper Limb Fellowship, Member of the International Traveling Fellows Committee of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH) and of the Diploma in Hand Surgery Examination Committee of the European Board of Hand Surgery (EBHS)/FESSH.
