Dr Lakshmi Arumugam Ratnam

Dr Ratnam qualified from the University of Sheffield in 1998. She completed her radiology specialist training at St George's Hospital, followed by subspecialty training in interventional radiology at St George's and a further year at the Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth, Australia. She was appointed a Consultant in Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at St.George’s Hospital in April 2009. She also holds the European Board of Interventional Radiology certification. In her daily practice, Dr Ratnam performs a wide range of diagnostic and vascular and non-vascular interventional procedures. She is a member of the St. George’s LAVA (Lymphatic and ArterioVenous Anomaly ) MDT , working closely with colleagues in Dermatology, Genetics and Plastic Surgery to provide a comprehensive service to patients with lymphatic and venous anomalies. She has extensive experience in treating vascular malformations in children and adults and has been at the cutting edge of some new treatment methods. She is also one of few Interventional Radiologists offering diagnostic and interventional Sialography and Salivary Gland Interventions. She is has been involved in the development of a MR lymphangiography service at St.George’s in collaboration with the Lymphatic Research team and was appointed an Honorary Reader (Associate Professor) in Interventional Radiology in 2022 by St George's University, London. In her career she has also served as Incoming chair of the British Society of Interventional Radiology Research Committee (current) Head of Department of Radiology at St George's Hospital, London Chair of the British Society of Interventional Radiology Scientific Programme Committee Interventional Radiology Sub Committee Member for the European Congress of Radiology Editorial Board for Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology (CVIR) and the CVIR Endovascular Journals Dr Ratnam has published extensively in many areas of interventional radiology and is regularly invited to lecture at national and international meetings.
