Ms Kenga Sivarajah serves as the lead for intrapartum care at King’s College Hospital (KCH). Graduating from Imperial College London in 2008, she pursued academic foundation training in Oxford before specialising in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in North East Thames in 2010. Her training included Advanced Training Skills Modules (ATSMs) in Obstetric Medicine, Advanced Antenatal Practice, and Advanced Labour Ward, alongside attaining MRCP and tertiary-level maternal medicine training. As a Consultant Obstetrician at KCH since completing her training in 2018, Ms Sivarajah oversees the Labour ward, leads Perinatal Mental Health initiatives, and manages the Cardiology, Respiratory, and Liver pregnancy service. Her expertise lies in Obstetrics, particularly in caring for pregnant women with medical complications throughout their journey. With experience spanning tertiary and district general hospital settings, she emphasises the importance of thorough counselling and planning before pregnancy to ensure comprehensive maternal care. Ms Sivarajah has pioneered joint Obstetrics and Psychiatry services for women with severe mental health conditions, collaborating with perinatal healthcare professionals. She actively engages in multidisciplinary team (MDT) decision-making for complex cases. Additionally, Ms Sivarajah contributes to patient safety efforts as a member of the PSIRF panel for maternity risk incidents at KCH, conducting root cause analyses and preparing incident reports. She offers expert opinion in obstetric legal cases and has completed specialised training in risk and claims management. Her profound understanding of the legal framework applicable to women lacking decision-making capacity has led her to lead and assist in complex cases, earning recognition including the King’s Star award. Ms Sivarajah works closely with safeguarding teams and is actively involved in formulating frameworks for assessing mental capacity in patients.
