Qualified from Nottingham University Medical School 1983, and then undertook early training in Gynaecology at Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham, going on to complete a postgraduate MD degree there. Further training in Bristol, Plymouth and a year in Melbourne, Australia, before taking up Consultant appointment in Winchester in 1995 with a special interest in minimal access surgery (laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery). Many new procedures introduced, most notably laparoscopic hysterectomy and laparoscopic excision of endometriosis, endometrial ablation and an out patient hysteroscopy service for menstrual disorders. I have a long standing interest in the menopause and HRT .I like to think that I am good at listening and individualizing patient care, and I am interested in achieving treatment goals with the least invasive surgery. My wife Sally is a GP, and we have two children, one in the City and the other a surgical trainee. I like cooking, fishing for trout and salmon, and skiing.
