Mr Keith Borowsky

I have been practising orthopaedics for over 31 years and have been a consultant for over 24 years, working in both academic institutions and in private practice. I offer expertise for all shoulder and elbow arthroscopic and reconstructive procedures, as well as conservative non-surgical management with ultrasound guided injections and specialised physiotherapy. Over 14 years as a substantive consultant at Medway Maritime Hospital, I established a shoulder and elbow service for both arthroscopic and reconstructive procedures and acted as Clinical Lead Clinician and Head of Clinical Governance for the department. I then took sabbatical Leave to develop private research and am now developing a shoulder replacement for fractures. I have a broad experience in orthopaedics but specialise in both conservative management with ultrasound guided injection and both arthroscopic and open surgery. I divide my time between clinical work and research. In addition to my clinical work I have acted as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Brighton and Sussex Medical School where I have performed extensive mechanical studies on fractures of the shoulder that have been the basis of acceptance of two articles in the International Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery. The first article outlines an interpretation of the current problem with shoulder replacement for fractures. This article also won the prize for Best Podium Presentation at the British Shoulder and Elbow Society meeting. The second article outlines a potential solution. I also practise in the Medico-legal field and have both interest in injury compensation and medical negligence.
