Professor Kavin Andi

Kavin Andi is a Consultant Maxillo-Facial Surgeon specialising in Reconstructive Head and Neck Surgery at St George’s Hospital, University of London. After completing Dental and Medical degrees at Bart’s and The London Schools of Medicine and Dentistry he undertook his Basic Surgical Training in Essex before returning to the London Deanery Higher Surgical Training programme in Oral & Maxillo-Facial Surgery at The Royal London Hospital; St Bartholomew’s Hospital; The Luton & Dunstable Hospital; and Guy’s Hospital. Following the award of the Intercollegiate FRCS (OMFS) he was subsequently ranked 1st amongst the highest calibre Maxillo-Facial, ENT and Plastic Surgeons in the United Kingdom by the Joint Committee for Higher Surgical Training for the highly competitive Advanced Head & Neck Interface Training Fellowships which he successfully completed at Guy’s Hospital, London, in conjunction with the award of Fellowship of The Higher Education Academy. As Clinical Research lead his academic portfolio includes Augmented Reality, Surgical Robotics and 3D Virtual Planning for which he was awarded the 2012 Norman Rowe Clinical Prize by the British Association of Oral Maxillo-Facial Surgeons. As an established speaker Kavin has had the honour of representing his colleagues at the Royal College of Surgeons and has also been invited to numerous national and international conferences. The American Head and Neck Society selected his paper on ‘Advanced Digital Planning for Head & Neck Reconstruction’ 1st amongst 1400 abstracts in the Best of Clinical category. His pioneering work in surgical planning has also been recognised by the British Association of Oral & Maxillo-Facial Surgeons who invited him to to deliver a keynote lecture at their Annual Scientific Meeting in Dublin, 2013. Kavin has published widely in his areas of interest and has also written original software on multiple platforms; creating user-friendly tools for clinical and outcomes research data collection. In 2020 he was appointed as a Visiting Professor in the Centre for Digital Engineering with a focus on Head and Neck Surgery, at Cranfield University.
