Dr Katie Newbold

Dr Kate Newbold  is a leading London-based  consultant clinical oncologist , specialising in the field of  thyroid and head & neck cancer . She is highly experienced in radiotherapy including IMRT, radioiodine, chemotherapy, targeted and immuno-therapies. She has a specialist practice in  advanced thyroid cancers  including iodine refractory, medullary and anaplastic. Her NHS practice is at The Royal Marsden Hospital where she leads the Thyroid Cancer Unit and she sees private patients at The Royal Marsden (Chelsea and Cavendish Square) and the BUPA Cromwell Hospital. She is also a Reader (Associate Professor) at the Institute of Cancer Research, London.  Dr Newbold graduated from Bristol University, and gained experience during post-graduate training in Bristol, Cheltenham and London before taking up a consultant post at The Royal Marsden Hospital in 2006. She completed a research MD in functional imaging applied to the management of head & neck cancer. Her research interests are now focussed on dosimetric delivery of radioiodine, the biology of thyroid cancer and how these determine novel therapies and personalised treatment plans. Dr Newbold holds a number of teaching positions, regularly presents at national and international meetings and has been a contributing author on national and international guidelines for the management of thyroid cancer. Dr Kate Newbold is passionate about improving the outcomes for patients with advanced thyroid and head & neck cancers with a strong emphasis on maintaining quality of life and minimising treatment toxicities.
