Dr Katherine Von Klemperer

Dr Katherine von Klemperer is a Consultant Cardiologist with expertise in adult congenital heart disease, maternal cardiology, aortopathy, and congenital echocardiography. Since her appointment as consultant in 2015, she has worked as an integral member of Adult Congenital, Aortic, and Maternal Cardiology multidisciplinary teams, providing highly specialised care for patients with complex and lifelong cardiac conditions. Dr von Klemperer leads advanced congenital echocardiography services, including transthoracic and transoesophageal imaging, and supports structural interventions. She also directs education for trainees and cardiac physiologists, helping to develop future leaders in specialist cardiovascular imaging. Her leadership roles include serving as Governance Lead for the Adult Congenital Heart Disease Group, cardiology representative in regional aortopathy and pregnancy pathways, and is a lead author on national for women at risk of aortic dissection during pregnancy. She regularly lectures at local and national conferences and training programmes. She has authored or co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications focused on congenital heart disease, aortic disease, pregnancy-associated cardiac risk, and surgical and imaging outcomes in rare cardiac conditions. She has also served as Associate Editor for IJC-Congenital Heart Disease and remains an active peer reviewer for major cardiology journals.
