I have been a consultant surgeon based at Leeds Teaching Hospital Trust for nearly 14 years specialising in the treatment of colorectal disorders. I gained my medical degree from Cambridge University before continuing my training at Imperial College in London. I attained a higher degree in medical education under the supervision of Lord Darzi at Imperial College before moving too the Oxford Region. I trained at Oxford University Hospital, under the guidance of Prof Mortensen learning my sub specialist skills in colorectal surgery. As a European proctor of robotic colorectal surgery, I train colleagues to adopt the latest techniques in colorectal surgery. I believe this technology allows me to delivers significant benefits both in short term recovery and longer oncological outcomes to my patients. Since my consultant appointment, I have developed my interest in the treatment of Early Rectal Cancer including 'local excision' (TAMIS /TEM). I am a core member of the Pelvic Floor Multidisciplinary Team meeting at Leeds, where we discuss complex cases of faecal incontinence, mixed incontinence and obstructive defecatory disorders. As part of the pelvic floor service I perform Ventral Mesh Rectopexy Surgery, Insertion of Sacral Nerve Stimulators and STARR procedures. I am married to a local General Practitioner and have three young daughter, who keep us busy. I am keen Cyclist, Skier and sailor.
