Mr Joseph Carter

I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, specialising in lower limb surgery with a particular emphasis on primary hip and knee joint replacements, as well as undertaking complex revision surgeries in cases of joint failure and infection. I am deeply committed to the principles of enhanced recovery and prioritise a patient-centered approach to healthcare. My medical training began at Liverpool Medical School. Subsequently, I pursued advanced training in Orthopaedic Surgery in the Northwest of England. In 2022, I had the privilege of completing the prestigious John Charnley Fellowship at Wrightington Hospital. This institution boasts a remarkable annual caseload of up to 3000 joint replacement surgeries. During this fellowship, I gained extensive experience in handling intricate pathologies, performing revision surgeries, utilising patient-specific implants, and mastering advanced surgical instrumentation. My academic pursuits include several published papers focusing on knee replacement design, survivorship, periprosthetic infection, and revision joint replacement. I am also deeply dedicated to the education of the next generation of orthopaedic professionals. In addition to my clinical responsibilities, I serve as the clinical lead for NICE guidance and Metastatic disease at Wrexham Maelor Hospital, underscoring my commitment to improving the standards of care and patient outcomes. My professional ethos is to consistently strive for excellence in lower limb surgery, with a paramount emphasis on the well-being of my patients and the continuous advancement of orthopaedic knowledge and practice.
