Mr Jonathan Trickett is a consultant general and colorectal surgeon with extensive experience in minimally invasive procedures (laparoscopic, robotic, ‘key hole’ surgery). He sees private patients at the Runnymede Hospital in Surrey and Princess Margaret Hospital in Windsor. He was appointed as a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Trust in 2008. He is an expert in minimally invasive surgery and regularly undertakes complex laparoscopic and robotic procedures for bowel cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, hernias and endometriosis. He is the lead for minimally invasive, robotic surgery at his NHS hospital which has one of the shortest lengths of in-patient hospital stay in the UK. He regularly undertakes diagnostic colonoscopy, advanced polyp removal endoscopically and is an expert in organ preserving removal of lower bowel tumours (Trans anal endoscopic microsurgery) He has extensive experience in treating hernias and painful proctology conditions such as haemorrhoids, fissures, fistula and pilonidal sinus. He has specialist knowledge in colorectal cancer genetic risks, lecturing over the last 10 years in this field at Royal Holloway, University of London Mr Jonathan Trickett qualified in 1994 from The London Hospital Medical College and continued with his initial surgical training at The Royal London Hospital, becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1998. He undertook his higher surgical training on the SW Thames registrar training programme, completing specialist training in general surgical and colorectal laparoscopic ‘key hole’ surgery. He was awarded a Royal College of Surgeons of England Research Fellowship in 2004, completing an MD thesis on colorectal cancer genetics at The University of Southampton and Cancer Research UK Lincoln’s Inn Fields London. His specialist colorectal training was further enhanced by a year at a major Australian teaching hospital, Flinders Medical Centre. As a consultant he developed his interest in patient enhanced recovery as 'clinical champion' for Kent, Surrey and Sussex Academic Health and Science Network. He refined his leadership and team working skills in Divisional Director roles over a 5-year period at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust He has a number of publications and has presented internationally on colorectal disease. Mr Trickett is an experienced high volume surgeon with expertise in all aspects of colorectal disease, hernia repair and colonoscopy.
