Consultant in Pain Medicine I am a consultant in pain medicine and one of the first 7 consultants in the UK to have been recognised as being fully credentialled in pain medicine by the GMC. I have a background of working in a tertiary referral specialist pain service, having trained in London and the North West. I have been a Board Member of the Faculty of Pain Medicine for the UK, British Pain Society Education Committee member, Lead National Trainer in Pain Medicine, and I am Vice Chair of Examinations for Pain Medicine in the UK. Pain medicine is complex and requires skill, compassion and judgment, involving patients who are often misunderstood and suffer in silence. The access to the first one of kind private spinal MDT, cutting-edge spinal interventional technology, close connections with physiotherapists across the region, and a pain psychologist who works with the practice, make my practice a leader in its field. This combined approach allows me to achieve the best possible outcomes, using over 300 targeted interventions for spinal and other chronic pain conditions per year. Additionally, I have an interest in the basic science of pain. I have published articles on fibromyalgia, burns pain, the pharmacological aspects pain medicine and pain in rare diseases. over many years, both independently as well as with the world-leading Human Pain Research Group. I have been an invited speaker on pain medicine at national and international pain medicine conferences. I have trained in neuromodulation in London and Leeds and completed the Medtronic advanced European fellowship in neuromodulation over 2 years. I also have a keen interest in minimally invasive treatments for acute and chronic pain. I have a specialist interest in minimally invasive treatments to help a variety of pains, including back pain, leg pain, knee pain and use techniques such as radiofrequency ablation to help patients manage and reduce their pain. I work closely with neurosurgical, spinal and orthopaedic colleagues to ensure the best possible outcomes are achieved.
