Mr Jonathan Bonnar

Mr Jonathan Bonnar is a consultant ophthalmic surgeon specialising in advanced cataract surgery and glaucoma surgery. With a passion for ophthalmology, Mr Bonnar graduated from Medicine at Queen’s University, Belfast with honours and following foundation training, completed Ophthalmic Specialist Training in Northern Ireland. Mr Bonnar then completed a prestigious fellowship in glaucoma surgery with the Université de Montréal in Québec, Canada, graduating with a diploma in specialist studies in glaucoma (DÉS glaucome). During this time he developed a keen interest in advanced cataract (anterior segment) surgery and specialised in the most modern glaucoma surgical techniques (minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, both angle and bleb based), learning from several world leaders based in Montréal. Mr Bonnar has published on surgical safety in glaucoma surgery and is currently pursuing research in this field. Mr Bonnar is delighted to be able to bring these advances in cataract and glaucoma surgery to the people of Northern Ireland.
