Mr Johnathan Hubbard is a Consultant Endocrine and General Surgeon at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals. He is also an Honorary Consultant at Kings College Hospital and an examiner for the European Board of Endocrine Surgery. Mr Hubbard is one of the largest volume endocrine surgeons in the United Kingdom, performing more than 300 thyroid and parathyroid treatments each year and around 40 adrenal surgeries. He has also performed 1500 parathyroid procedures. Mr Hubbard gained his medical degree from Newcastle University in 1991 and went on to undertake an MD in molecular biology. In 2001, he received the Intercollegiate FRCS in General Surgery with a specialist interest in Endocrine Surgery. He then worked in Marseille as an Assistant in Endocrine Surgery with Prof. Jean-Francois Henry, gaining expertise in minimally invasive parathyroid surgery procedures such as Video-Assisted Parathyroidectomy. He also gained experience in laparoscopic adrenal surgery and thyroid cancer surgery. He completed his general and endocrine surgery training in 2002. In 2004, Mr Hubbard became the first English surgeon to receive the European Board Exam Qualification in Endocrine Surgery. He has a number of publications and book chapters and has edited the textbook 'Principle and Practice of Endocrine Surgery,' which had contributors from the United Kingdom, Europe, the United States, and Asia. He is also a former conference organiser and an executive committee member of the BAETS. He is a member of the International, Francophone, European, and American Associations of Endocrine Surgery (IAES, AFCE, ESES, AAES) and the American Thyroid Association (ATA).
