Professor John Hines

I qualified from The University of Liverpool Medical School in 1985 and undertook a wide variety of training jobs in Liverpool, Birmingham and London, where I was a senior registrar in the North West London region. I started as a consultant urological Surgeon on 1st January 1999 at Whipps Cross Hospital, London. My NHS practice also included Bart's Hospital from 2000 and University College London Hospital (UCLH) from 2010, and since 2019 all of my NHS practice has been at UCLH.  From 2012 to 2021 I was the Urology Cancer Pathway Director for north east and north central London and west Essex and led the major reorganisation of cancer services between 2012 and 2016.  I have a major interest in medical education and examinations and my current roles include Cores Surgical Training Programme Director in London, Undergraduate Urology Teaching Lead at UCLH, Academic Lead for Quality Assurance at University College London Medical School. I am Dean at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. My clinical interests are prostate and bladder cancer, benign prostatic disease, prostatitis, recurrent urine infection and uro-gynaecological malignancy.
