Mr Jibin Francis

Jibin Francis was appointed as a Consultant Neurosurgeon, with an interest in spinal neurosurgery, at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in 2019, having undertaken fellowships at the John Radcliffe in Oxford, and a combined orthopaedic and neurosurgical spinal fellowship in Cambridge. Jibin’s practice includes both complex spinal neurosurgery for spinal tumours, injuries, infections and minimally invasive (keyhole tubular) surgery, which can often be performed as a day case.  Minimally invasive surgical techniques are employed in the majority of the operations he performs for disc prolapse and spinal stenosis, and, in 2023, Jibin introduced full endoscopic spinal surgery in Cambridge as an extension of these principles. These techniques deliver the same surgical results with the least possible trauma to surrounding tissues.  He specialises in the treatment of neck pain, back pain, arm pain, leg pain, trauma, tumours and syringomyelia, and also has a special interest in the neurosurgical management of spontaneous intracranial hypotension (SIH).   Jibin is directly involved in neurosurgical training at both undergraduate (serving as speciality lead for neurosurgical teaching) and postgraduate levels. He is a faculty member on various national neurosurgical courses. He was appointed clinical lead for the East of England Spinal Network in 2023.
