GMC reg: 4569914Mr Jean-Marc Guichet is orthopaedic consultant in reconstruction and lower limb surgery. He studied Medicine and Orthopedics in France where he graduated, but did a fellowship in Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York where he graduated from a PhD in New York University. He was awarded another PhD from France (Marseille). He studied Biomechanics, bone healing, implant design, and developed an international practice. He was Senior Lecturer Honorary Consultant at the Pediatric Limb Reconstruction Service in Sheffield. He is a member of the British Orthopaedic Association, the British Society for Children's Orthopaedic Surgery, The British Limb Reconstruction Society and other international Societies (SOFCOT, SOFOP, etc.). He published several articles on bone lengthening and healing and created several surgical techniques (intramedullary nail lengthening 1986, 3D reconstruction using intramedullary nails 1991, reverse Kapandji technique 1997, cross-pinning of tibial spine fracture 2001, combined intramedullary and Kapandji osteosynthesis for radial neck fracture 2001, ligament reconstruction in children 2001 (e.g. ACL of knees, etc.). He received several awards (French Ministry, etc.) and his work is being recognised worldwide and published in top journals. He is a world leader in limb lengthening and developed several techniques for bone deformity correction or fracture fixation. He developed not only implants, but specific techniques allowing full weight-bearing and fast return to normal activities ('Hyper-Fast track technique', where patients resume walking, stairs, biking within 2 hours of awakening from a 6 hours surgery. and sports during lengthening, to fasten healing by 2 to 4 times.
